Graduate Decision Points

Decision Points for Graduate and Post baccalaureate programs determine academic eligibility for Admission to Advanced Programs, eligibility for clinical placements and recommendation for program completion and/or endorsement for NH licensure. Students who successfully pass through Decision Points 1-4 are eligible for program completion and recommendation for endorsement for NH licensure.

The four programs represented in these decision points are:

  • M.Ed. in Special Education or Graduate Educator Licensure (Special Education Teacher)
  • M.Ed. in Educational Leadership with licensure and Post-Master’s with licensure (Principal Instructional Leader)
  • M.Ed. in Curriculum and Teaching (non-licensure program)
  • Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure.

Educational Leadership Decision Points

Decision Point One - Admission to Advanced Programs

Decision Point Two - Admission to EPP for Principal endorsement (completed after EDUC 651 and EDUC 631 and during EDUCEL 695)

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher *
  • Professional Disposition Assessment form completed by course instructor(s) if areas of concern are communicated to Program Coordinator **
  • Must submit all requirements for the NH DOE criminal background check process during EDUCEL 695

Decision Point Three - Eligibility for Internship II (completed after EDUCEL 695)

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher *
  • Professional Disposition Assessment form completed by course instructor(s) if areas of concern are communicated to Program Coordinator **
  • Must have a status of “Issued” NH DOE criminal background check process

Decision Point Four - Eligibility Check for Internship III (completed after EDUCEL 696)

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher *
  • Successful completion of Internship II (B or better)
  • Professional Disposition Assessment and Internship Evaluation completed by Internship Instructor in consultation with Cooperating Professional

Decision Point Five - Eligibility Check to Verify Educator Preparation Program Completion and Recommendation for Endorsement for NH Licensure

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher *
  • Successful completion of Internship III (B or better)
  • No “Does Not Meet Standard” or “Progress Toward Meeting Standard” on Dispositions Assessment form
  • No “Emerging” or “Developing” on Clinical Work evaluation form completed by Internship Instructor ***
  • Degree completion (clearance from Registrar and Graduate Office)

Special Education Decision Points

Decision Point One - Academic Admission to Advanced Programs and Admission to EPP for Special Education Teacher

Decision Point Two - Eligibility for Internship I (completed after EDUCSP 601, 602, and 604, and EDUCSP 650 [M.Ed only])

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher*
  • Professional Disposition Assessment form completed by course instructor(s) if areas of concern are communicated to Program Coordinator **
  • Must have a status of “Issued” NH DOE criminal background check process

Decision Point Three - Eligibility Check for Internship II (completed after EDUCSP 660 and 603, and EDUCSP 655 [M.Ed. only])

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher*
  • Successful completion of Internship I (B or better)
  • Professional Disposition Assessment and Internship I Evaluation completed by Internship Instructor in consultation with Cooperating Professional **

Decision Point Four - Eligibility Check to Verify Educator Preparation Program Completion and Recommendation for Endorsement for NH Licensure

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Successful completion of Internship II (B or better)
  • No “Does Not Meet Standard” or “Progress Toward Meeting Standard” on Dispositions Assessment form
  • No “Emerging” or “Developing” on Clinical Work evaluation form completed by Internship Instructor ***
  • Degree completion (clearance from Registrar and Graduate Office)

Curriculum and Teaching Decision Points

Decision Point One - Admission to Advanced Programs

Decision Point Two - Eligibility: Becoming a Specialist (completed after EDUCCI 620, Specialization I or after EDUC 670)

  • No grade below a C, and no more than two grades below a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher*
  • Professional Disposition Assessment form completed by Program Coordinator in consultation with EDUCCI 620 or EDUC 670 instructor /**

Decision Point Three - Eligibility: Becoming a Researcher (completed after EDUC 675)

  • No grade below a C, and no more than two grades below a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher *
  • Professional Disposition Assessment form completed by Program Coordinator in consultation with EDUC 675 instructor *

Decision Point Four - Eligibility Check for Program Completion

  • No grade less than a C, and no more than two grades less than a B
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Successful completion of Internship II (B or better)
  • No “Does Not Meet Standard” or “Progress Toward Meeting Standard” on Dispositions Assessment form
  • Degree completion (clearance from Registrar and Graduate Office)

Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure

Decision Point One - Admission to Advanced Programs or Post Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure

Decision Points 2 through 5

Notes:

Transfer students may have a slightly different decision point process, depending on articulation agreements and transcript analysis.

* If cumulative GPA is less than 3.0, create a plan for continuation or termination of M.Ed. and/or Post-Master’s Licensure program. This plan will be developed by the Program Coordinator in consultation with the Associate Dean and Graduate Program/Educator Preparation Office staff as necessary.

**If candidate receives a “Does Not Meet Standard” or “Progress Toward Meeting Standard” or has significant issues noted on the Clinical Work Evaluation the KSC Internship Supervisor and Program Coordinator, in collaboration with a Cooperating Professional (if applicable), will need to design an individual plan to work on the area(s) of concern. The plan, with the goal of bringing the area(s) of concern to standard, must be completed by a mutually determined date.

*** The Program Coordinator will assess whether the candidate has successfully passed this portion of the Decision Point.

NOTE: If candidate receives below a “B” on EDUC 670 or 675 the instructor and Program Coordinator will need to design an individual plan to work on the area(s) of concern. The plan, with the goal of bringing the area(s) of concern to standard, must be completed by a mutually determined date.
