Career exploration is a lifelong process. The Office of Academic and Career Advising helps all students with that process. As a Career Advisor, I help students explore majors and careers, search for internships and jobs, and learn how to effectively market themselves to employers and graduate schools. I am in my third career and love what I do. I graduated with a BA in Music, and would never have guessed that my career path would include working in Human Resources, becoming a Clinical Social Worker, and, for the past 13 years, being a Career Advisor. The great part is that my liberal arts degree prepared me for all of these careers. I’ve also learned that experiences, people, and events can have an unexpected impact on what you do in life. Sometimes undergraduates feel like they have to have it all figured out; that they should know what they’re doing for the rest of their lives. I hope to relieve some of that pressure so a student can begin to explore, get experiences, and connect with people with the goal of preparing for the first phase of their life after college.
