State Accreditation
The New Hampshire State Board of Education approves the Keene State College Professional Educator Preparation Programs (PEPP) to ensure that quality programs that meet state standards are being provided. The preparation of effective educators is demonstrated through the use of an assessment system and continuous improvement data cycles that evaluate the curriculum, learning facilitation, assessment processes and resources for the programs.
To promote the learning of all NH students, each PEPP must document and provide evidence that every graduate demonstrates competencies in general education, professional education, and those specific to a beginning educator in each certification area.
The program approval process requires the submission of a self-assessment report, which serves as an analysis of the progress of a program toward meeting the state standards. Using the standards, a state review team evaluates the assessment system and evidence which demonstrate the competencies of the PEPP candidates. This review may be an on-site visit, an electronic review, or a hybrid version. The final review team report and approval recommendations are submitted to the New Hampshire Council for Teacher Education (NHCTE). Its recommendations are then submitted through the Department of Education to the state board. The state board reviews the NHCTE recommendations and the final review team report and determines the official program approval status. The official program approval status is then reported to the PEPP through the Department of Education.
In 2011 the New Hampshire State Board of Education once again granted 5 year full approval to all our educator preparation programs, recognizing the College’s quality programs which ensure that certification candidates meet the New Hampshire educator standards.
