Emergency Communication

In conjunction with other departments on campus, including Campus Safety, we help to inform the community when an emergency occurs or when inclement weather affects college operations. Our emergency communications plan is part of a larger plan that is in place to comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency requirements.

Storytelling

Through close working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners and friends, we build a compelling institution-wide narrative that turns first impressions into lasting relationships. Our stories are told through words, images and video on our website, printed materials, Keene State Today Magazine, social media and through traditional media.

Marketing and Communications has a team of writers who share information about Keene State College through the variety of communications vehicles mentioned above. We enjoy connecting with faculty, staff and students, and encourage members of the Keene State community to reach out to any of our staff.

Promotional Pieces

Op-Ed Pieces
The Marketing and Communications Office places opinion pieces written by KSC faculty and staff members in several newspapers around the state. The articles appear on the op-ed (opposite the editorial) or commentary page of newspapers. Topics have ranged from U.S.-Japan relations to earthquakes to local town meetings. Each piece should be 650 to 800 words and may be edited for style.

Media Experts List
The Marketing and Communications Office maintains a list of people who are available to comment on their fields of academic expertise and specializations outside their academic fields. This list is distributed periodically to media representatives throughout New England.

Student Internships

We work with students to offer hands-on internship opportunities that help build skills that will apply during and after college, and add to the professional portfolio of students. From writing, to media relations, to graphic design, our staff is interested in hearing from students and faculty who want to work with us on student internship possibilities.
