Important Financial Aid Information - for New Hampshire Need-Based Financial Aid Recipients

On June 22, 2011, the New Hampshire State Legislature passed the 2011-2012 budget. State funds appropriated to the University System, including Keene State College, were reduced by almost 50%. This money, subsidizing tuition rates paid by students who are New Hampshire residents, is an essential source of revenue to fund college operations. As a result of this unprecedented cut, the university system’s board of trustees passed a tuition increase for in- state students of $710 over the amount authorized in February. In approving the tuition increase, the trustees also authorized an increase in institutionally funded financial aid to lessen the impact on those New Hampshire students most in need. The approved tuition and fee rates can be found here

Due to the in-state tuition increase, all in-state students currently receiving financial aid will have their Cost of Attendance (reflected as the “Budget” on the financial aid award letter) adjusted to reflect the new tuition rates. This adjustment allows for the additional cost to be incorporated into loan totals if a student or parent has elected to pursue Federal or private education loans. Additionally, Keene State College’s financial aid department is in the process of distributing the additional aid that has been made available for our students who are most in need. Beginning July 7, updated award letters will be mailed to those students who are eligible to receive additional funds. We anticipate this process to be completed by July 22. If you have been asked to provide documents and have not provided them, we will not be able to give further consideration to your financial needs.

If you have questions or concerns, or need assistance identifying additional potential funding options, please contact the KSC financial aid office.
