Midrange Computer Certificate Now Available

KEENE, N.H. 8/5/02 Keene State College now offers a certificate program designed and developed jointly with the IBM Partners in Education Program to serve the specific career needs of learners in the Monadnock Region.

The Midrange Systems and Development Certificate provides a comprehensive iSeries technology curriculum that meets the growing demands of both the local and national marketplaces. The certificate is offered through Keene States Continuing Education Division in conjunction with the Colleges Computer Science Department.

A certificate is awarded upon completion of 18 credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. During the fall semester, several three-credit courses are offered that can be applied toward this certificate. The following courses run the full semester, which starts Aug. 26 and ends Dec. 13, with classes meeting in the late afternoon or evening to fit peoples work schedules:

Introduction to iSeries 400, which introduces the midrange computer system, meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

iSeries 400 RPG Programming, which introduces RGP programming and program documentation, meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4:20 p.m.

iSeries 400 DBMS/SQL, which explains how to manipulate data to extract required information using database manager software, meets on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:20 p.m.

To be eligible for a certificate, students must make formal application to the program before the beginning of the third course. All courses earned toward this certificate may be applied toward a computer science degree at Keene State.
