Keene State Helps Communities Defend Against Terrorism

KEENE, N.H. 1/7/02 - Keene State College will help communities defend against acts of terrorism by offering this spring a new emergency management course.

“NCSH 428 Emergency Management and Community Defense” addresses the strengthening and integration of organizational and community emergency management. Effective private and public sector coordination of emergency planning and response is of critical concern in defending against acts of terrorism.

The non-credit course will cover such topics as emergency management planning, incident command, and emergency communications. This course is designed for personnel from both private sector and governmental organizations including hospitals, schools, public offices, business, and industry.

The five-day course will be offered May 6-10, July 22-26, and Oct. 21-25 at the Keene State College Safety Center in Manchester. The class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday. Tuition is $640.

Payment and registration should be received two weeks in advance of the scheduled dates to assure a place in the course.
