Alumni Weekend 2020
Dear Keene State Alumni,
Your health and safety, and that of our Keene State community, as well as the surrounding Keene community, are our top priorities at Keene State. While we were very much hoping to celebrate Reunion Weekend together, on campus, October 2 - 4, it is clear that ensuring safety precautions for such a large gathering of people is not possible. For this reason, we have made the difficult decision that we will not host an on-campus event for Alumni Reunion Weekend this October. Alternatively, we will offer virtual events and programs throughout the fall, with the goal of hosting you on campus in June 2021.
Over the past several weeks, it became increasingly clear that our physical distancing and sanitation requirements would not make it possible safely host a gathering of this size on our campus with the currents risks from COVID-19. In addition, two recent orders from our Governor would prohibit participation by individuals outside New England and would require crowd size limits more restrictive than our plan for Reunion would allow.
On behalf of the Keene State community, I am truly sorry for the disappointment you must feel regarding this decision. The Alumni Association Board of Directors and I are heartbroken that our community will not be able gather in person. Alumni Reunion Weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year because is a tradition steeped in memories, reconnecting, and friendship, as it is with so many alumni. Now, more than ever, I am looking forward to seeing as many Owls as possible in June when it is safer to be together in person.
The silver lining in needing to go virtual this fall is that we can be creative about developing these events and programs, and we would love for you to be a part of the planning! If you have ideas about fall virtual events, please email me your suggestions, and how you might like to participate in the planning. As a schedule is developed, we will reach out to you again with details.
We look forward to seeing you soon, just virtually for now. Please, take good care of yourself and your loved ones. We are grateful that you are a part of our college community!
