The Mystery Of Josef Mengele
How did the famous "angel of death" of Auschwitz evade detection and prosecution for 35 years? Following a long trail of aliases, forged documents, secret communications and financial dealings, and relocations around Europe and South America, this program shows how Mengele - with the help of his family, an underground Nazi network, and the complicity of sympathetic governments - successfully eluded justice. Archival footage and stills, reeanctments, a diary and letters, audiotapes, and interviews with sources such as twins who were part of his "research" combine to reveal much about the man and his years in hiding. (Focusing on Mengele’s genetic experiments on twins, Children of the Flames: Dr. Joseph Mengele and the Untold Story of the Twins of Auschwitz provides additional biographical details.)
