Master Plan Approved

From President Anne Huot:

On January 31, 2014 I presented Keene State College’s 2014 Master Plan to the Board of Trustees for approval. I am pleased to report that the approval was unanimous. This master plan update guides the College’s future capital investment decisions, clearly articulating and justifying space needs for current programs. In addition, the plan identifies sites and provides cost estimates for future projects.

I am appreciative of the many points of view expressed regarding the sequencing of building projects, the location of the buildings, the acquisition of property, and the overall plan for residential life in the future. As with all plans, the Master Plan is a fluid document. As each of the projects rises to the top of the list there will be ample opportunity for further community input. The full master plan can be accessed at http://www.keene.edu/admin/mp.cfm.

My thanks and appreciation to the many constituents who participated in the master planning process. The engagement of a broad cross-section of stakeholders has resulted in a rich, visionary plan for the physical footprint of the campus. The committee that worked over the course of last year and a half has done an outstanding job of ensuring an open and transparent process that welcomed feedback. Hearty thanks to them for a job well done. I want to acknowledge the stewardship demonstrated throughout this process by the Master Plan Committee, led by co-chairs Karen House, Associate Vice President for Finance and Planning, and Dr. Gordon Leversee, Interim Provost. Other important contributors included Vice President Jay Kahn, Director of Physical Plant Frank Mazzola, William Haverly from USNH’s Office of Capital Planning & Development, Sasaki Associates master planners, and JBA space planners. Together, these individuals and companies worked effectively, with help from the campus and community, to produce a plan that addresses the learning/living environment for Keene State College.
