Campus Master Plan Update

From Karen House and Gordon Leversee, Co-chairs of the Master Planning/FPAC Committee:

We are writing to provide an update on the master planning process. As you may know, the master plan is a roadmap for the physical environment of the campus that is re-visited at each of the USNH institutions every 10 years. The plan supports the mission of Keene State. For the past year, a committee made of students, faculty, staff, and Keene community members have been working together to update Keene State’s existing facilities master plan.

First, we want to thank you for your input into the plan – your comments and suggestions are a critical part of the decision-making process. The plan is largely based on providing the living and learning environment that our students need to be successful, and addressing needs and concerns of our Keene neighbors. For example, the current draft plan proposes increasing student housing space on campus, and adding a new academic building on the Winchester Street edge of campus.

On November 12, Keene State hosted a City Council meeting, during which we presented the most recent draft of the master plan. Feedback from the City Council was largely positive, and we feel that the plan is advancing well. The next step in the process is presenting the plan to President Huot for her acceptance and recommendation for approval from USNH Trustees in late January. The goal is to have a final plan adopted in February, 2014.

Thank you again for your participation and interest. We will continue to keep you posted on developments as they happen. Here is a link to a summary graphic: http://www.keene.edu/admin/mp.cfm.
