IT Tech Tip of the Week: Media Equipment Needed for Finals!

From the IT Group: Final projects bring an increase in classroom and other campus presentations. The HelpDesk encourages faculty, staff, and students to plan early for this busy time. The more notice that the HelpDesk has of what is needed and when, the better chance you have of receiving the equipment you need. Media equipment can be requested (at least 48 hours in advance) through this online form. Equipment is reserved on a first come-first served basis.

Please remind students to test their presentation before the big day, using the technology in the classroom. This will give them an opportunity to catch any issues or incompatibilities. Also, if you or your students would like to use a Macintosh computer in the classroom, the HelpDesk has adaptors available. Students must have a form that has been signed by a faculty member, and they must pick equipment up at the HelpDesk at least 24 hours prior to the event.

You may be in a building where the piece of equipment you need is already housed. Media closets are located in the Arts Center, Butterfield Hall, Huntress Hall, Morrison Hall, and Parker Hall. You can view the equipment located in these closets by clicking on the “Media Equipment Closet Schedules” link in Outlook Public Folders. You can reserve the equipment you or your students need right there and then pick it up when needed. If you don’t have a key to that closet, contact the HelpDesk, and we’ll be happy to provide one. Remember to reserve your equipment early to be sure it is available and ready to go when you need it!

Please contact the HelpDesk (8-2532) or stop by our office on the second floor of Elliot Center if you have any questions concerning technology issues.
