Film synopsis: The Vanquishing of the Witch Baba Yaga is an exploration of Eastern Europeans’ changing perceptions of nature from the sinister forest home of a mythical witch to a refuge from famine, destruction, and war. Incorporating both animation and live-action, The Vanquishing of the Witch Baba Yaga offers glimpses of ethereal woodlands and overgrown ruins. History and folklore combine with personal stories from modern-day, post-conflict Eastern Europe in this study of collective, social memory and how it shapes our interactions with the world around us.
