Although Brooks Hubbard ’14, from Enfield, NH, graduated as a political science major, his real love is music, so after graduation he packed his guitar and headed to Nashville. A pretty competitive town for musicians, to be sure, but Hubbard is already getting some serious traction. He spent the first part of November touring the East and Midwest with his friend and mentor Stephen Kellogg. He’s also released two CDs, Press Play (2014) and Start Of Me (2015), and he’s coming out with a three-song EP, recorded at Martina McBride’s Blackbird Studios in Nashville.

And what about that poli sci major? “College was just kind of a step to further myself and grow as a person in this world,” Hubbard said. “I chose poli sci because I was interested in the major and it really helped me with my writing to mature into bigger ideas.”

For now, it looks like he’s right where he should be, doing just what he should be doing. Just ask his sister and biggest fan, Hilary Hubbard ’12: “All Brooks wants to do in his life is to change peoples’ lives with his music and make them happy. He is an incredible young man with a heart of gold.”
