Samantha Buckler has had her heart set on coming to Keene State College. “I’ve wanted to go to Keene State for a few years now,” said Buckler, from Winchendon, MA, and member of the College’s class of incoming students this fall. “I have heard great things about the education program, and I always knew that’s where I wanted to study.”

Enrolled in the Gateway to College program at Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) in Gardner, Buckler got a jump-start on college. The program, in partnership with Ralph C. Mahar School District, allows students to use school-choice funding to earn their high school diploma while simultaneously earning college credits.

“It was good for me to take college classes and get used to the work load and experience,” said Buckler, the Gateway valedictorian who had a perfect 4.0 GPA at MWCC last year. Buckler was awarded a President’s Scholarship at Keene State. “I really like school. It comes naturally, and I also like putting in the time and effort to do well.”

Buckler says she plans to live on campus, and she will take advantage of a variety of opportunities at Keene State. “I’m really looking forward to coming to Keene State,” she said. “I think my experience at Mount Wachusett has prepared me for the next step in my academic career.”
