Long-Time Supporter of Keene State College, Robert P. Hubbard, Continues Legacy with Lasting Gift

Keene State College will receive an estate gift of $500,000 from the late Robert P. Hubbard, to be used to support the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery. Mr. Hubbard, of Walpole, NH, greatly valued the pursuit of higher education, and was a long-time friend of Keene State College. An English teacher by training, Mr. Hubbard appreciated education deeply, he traveled extensively, and had a love of art and architecture.

“We are saddened by Bob’s passing. He was an incredibly kind and generous man – a true gentleman who will be missed. We are deeply appreciative of his continued support of the arts at Keene State College – it was an honor to work with him over the years,” said Maryann Lindberg, vice president of advancement at Keene State College.

Mr. Hubbard was a long-time supporter of the arts at Keene State and he believed in supporting outstanding educational programs such as those offered at Keene State. In 2008, Mr. Hubbard donated a collection of art to the College consisting of 56 paintings, prints, and sculptures worth approximately $1.1 million. The Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery hosted a show in 2008 to unveil the Hubbard Collection to the greater Keene Community. Mr. Hubbard expressed that he was extremely pleased by the gesture. He visited the Thorne Gallery often, and thoroughly enjoyed the various shows throughout the year.
