Physical Education Majors Attend Conference, Young and Ingram Recognized

Thirty-one Physical Education Teacher Certification majors attended the NHAHPERD (New Hampshire Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) Conference, November 21-22, 2013, held at Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. Many KSC majors were presiders for workshops. Dr. Fitni Destani, KSC faculty, and Shannon Szepan, a KSC alum, presented “Creating a Culture for Assessment in the Physical Education Setting.” In addition, Preston Ingram participated in a session, “The Highs and Woes of Student Teaching.” A reception for Keene State students and alumni, sponsored by our Development Office, was well attended. Keene State Physical Education Faculty attending were Dr. Beverly King, Dr. Linda Millard, Dr. Fitni Destani, Dan Durand and Joel Feldmann.

Two students from each of the New Hampshire colleges were chosen to receive Outstanding Future Professional Awards. Marc Young and Preston Ingram were chosen by the KSC Physical Education faculty. From the group, two students were chosen to attend the Eastern District AHPERD Convention, held in Newport, Rhode Island on February 26-March 1, 2014. Marc Young was selected and will be recognized at an awards banquet at that conference as an Outstanding Future Professional, representing New Hampshire.
