OSHA Training Center Offers Courses in May

KEENE, N.H. 4/11/03 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled nine safety courses in May. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Unless otherwise noted, classes take place at the Region I OSHA Training Institute located at Manchester Airport.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (OSHA 501), intended for private-sector personnel from all types of industries, presents detailed information on how the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act may be implemented in the workplace. This course meets May 19-23 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tuition is $650.

Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 502) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This course meets May 19-21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. Tuition is $500.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 503) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This course meets May 21-23 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Tuition is $500.

Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 510) introduces entry-level personnel to basic construction safety standards and is a prerequisite for attendance in other construction courses. This course meets May 5-9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tuition is $650.

OSHA’s Revised Recordkeeping Rule (OSHA 845) is designed to assist private- sector personnel who have responsibilities under OSHA’s Revised Recordkeeping Rule 29 CFR 1904. This course is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $80.

Developing Effective Safety Programs in Construction (NCSH 213) covers key elements and applications of effective safety programs recommended by OSHA and The American Society of Safety Engineers. This course is scheduled for Friday, May 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $160.

Power Line Hazard Awareness for the Construction Industry (NCSH 408) allows the student to conduct two- and four-hour Power Line Hazard Awareness courses and issue OSHA cards. This course meets Friday, May 16, from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $160.

Fall Prevention and Protection for Construction Employees (NCSH 424) makes construction workers and supervisors aware of the many potential fall hazards in construction and teaches them ways to eliminate or reduce these hazards. The one-day course is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $160.

Violence in the Workplace (NCSH 429) addresses one of the fastest growing occupational hazards from both a management and employee perspective. This course meets May 12-16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tuition is $650.
