OSHA Training Center Offers Courses

KEENE, N.H. 3/11/03 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled seven safety courses in April. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Unless otherwise noted, classes meet at the Region I OSHA Training Institute located at Manchester Airport.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500) trains the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour construction courses that earn participants OSHA cards. This course meets April 21-25, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $650.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (OSHA 501), intended for private-sector personnel from all types of industries, presents detailed information on how the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act may be implemented in the workplace. This course meets April 14-18, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuition is $650.

Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 502) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This course, scheduled April 14-16, meets Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $500.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 503) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This course meets April 16-18, on Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $500.

Steel Erection Subpart R (NCSH 200) covers the OSHA requirements of the new Steel Erection Standard. Students have the unique opportunity of practical experience on a steel training tower located at the New Hampshire Community Technical College in Nashua, where the course takes place April 28-May 2, meeting Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuition is $650.

Behavior-Based Safety Training (NCSH 215) provides an overview of the behavior-based safety process and steps to implement it. The one-day course is scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $160.

Scaffold Users (NCSH 406) covers hazards from falls, falling objects, and electrical sources. It also covers the proper use of the scaffold, proper handling of materials on the scaffold, the maximum intended load of the scaffold, and other pertinent requirements. This course is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $160.
