OSHA Education Center Offers Courses

KEENE, N.H. 11/20/02 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled six safety courses in December. The Region I OSHA Training Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State Colleges Office of Continuing Education.

Unless otherwise noted, the following classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Region I OSHA Training Institute located at New Hampshires Manchester Airport. Unless otherwise noted, tuition for each course is $650.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry, intended for private-sector personnel from all types of industries, presents detailed information on how the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act may be implemented in the workplace. This OSHA 501 courses is scheduled for Dec. 9-13.

Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This OSHA 502 course is offered Dec. 16-18 with classes meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Tuition is $500.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. Two OSHA 503 courses are scheduled and tuition for each course is $500. An online/in-person course begins Dec. 16 and must be completed within seven weeks. The course includes one classroom meeting from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Region I OSHA Training Institute in Manchester, N.H. The other OSHA 503 course is scheduled Dec.18-20 meeting from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry introduces entry-level personnel to basic construction safety standards and is a prerequisite for attendance in other construction courses. This OSHA 510 course is scheduled Dec. 9-13.

OSHAs Revised Recordkeeping Rule is designed to assist private-sector personnel who have responsibilities under OSHAs revised recordkeeping Rule 29 CFR 1904. Students who successfully complete this course will be able to identify the OSHA requirements for recordkeeping, posting, and reporting as well as complete the new OSHA forms 300, 300A, and 301. The OSHA 845 course is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $80.
