Keene State Offers Several Courses in June

KEENE, N.H. 6/7/02 Registration continues for summer courses at Keene State College with several short courses available in June and a six-week session starting July 1. The registration deadline is June 26 for Summer Session II, which continues through Aug. 9.

Many weekend courses and one-week institutes are available throughout the summer for which students may register until the day those courses begin. Early registration is encouraged since under-enrolled courses may be cancelled. Heres a sampling of weekend and institute courses that start in June.

Two weekend computer courses, offered for one credit, meet on Friday from 5 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Adobe Illustrator Basics, scheduled June 14 and 15, provides participants with a hands-on overview of this graphic illustration program. Microsoft Excel for Windows, offered June 21 and 22, is a hands-on introduction to a popular spreadsheet program.

Several weeklong summer institutes begin in June. Organization and Administration of Safety Programs is scheduled Monday to Friday, June 10-14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course emphasizes instructional and administrative aspects of comprehensive safety programs using classroom and field experiences.

Industrial Hygiene is offered Monday to Friday, June 24-28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This safety course examines the anticipation, recognition, and control of occupational health hazards in the workplace.

Adventure Group Counseling is scheduled Monday to Friday, June 24-28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This education course is designed to explore the group process using the Monadnock Family Services ropes course at the YMCA camp in Keene.

Curriculum Development is offered Monday to Friday, June 24-28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This education course studies the curriculum context, delivery, standards, and frameworks in all academic areas.
