Keene State College Congratulates Karen House and Melissa Laughner on Recognition for "Financial Genius"
2011 Bradford K. Perry Award Acknowledges College’s Leadership in Integrated Financial Planning
Keene, NH, October 31, 2011: Keene State College is proud to announce that Keene State College Associate Vice President for Finance, Karen House, and Keene State College Finance and Budget Analyst, Melissa Laughner, are the winners of the 2011 Bradford K. Perry Award. Karen and Melissa developed a multi-scenario, multi-year financial planning model that has been essential for integrating Keene State’s strategic planning initiatives with financial projections. The model has proven to be an efficient alternative to acquiring an expensive, labor-intensive commercial product. Karen and Melissa won the award for their “financial genius” as noted by the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) Treasurer and the Financial Policies and Planning Council.
“I am thrilled to acknowledge two of our stellar employees here at Keene State. Our College has some of the most advanced financial modeling efforts in the country. Keene State is very proud of the value that Karen and Melissa’s financial modeling has contributed to the College’s integrated planning efforts,” said Keene State College Vice President for Finance and Planning, Jay Kahn. “The model developed by these two award winners is being shared with colleagues within New Hampshire, and with colleges nationally, contributing further to Keene State’s growing reputation for leadership in integrated planning.”
The award began in memory of Bradford K. Perry, who served as Vice Chancellor for Financial Affairs and Treasurer of the University System of New Hampshire (USNH) from 1988 until his death in 2000. Recipients of this award are selected based on the impact of their contributions to throughout USNH, improved effectiveness in their operations, extent of collaboration across USNH, and positive changes in processes or procedures when solving issues.
