Dr. Samson Munn to Deliver KSC's 13th Holocaust Memorial Lecture

KEENE, N.H., 9/23/10 - Dr. Samson Munn, president of the medical staff and associate radiologist in chief at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, will deliver Keene State College’s 13th Annual Holocaust Memorial Lecture on Monday, September 27, at 7 p.m. in the Mabel Brown Room of the Student Center.

The son of Holocaust survivors, Dr. Munn is especially active in establishing ongoing dialogues between the children of perpetrators and victims of the Holocaust and genocide, and his work has been the subject of several important documentaries shown on cable television in the United States and on BBC in the United Kingdom. He founded The Austrian Encounter, a non- profit therapeutic group established in 1995 to counter racism and stem genocide by exploring and discussing the participants’ family histories. He is also active in To Reflect and Trust, a similar group of sons and daughters of survivors from other historic conflicts, and is a member of the Stephen S. Weinstein Symposium, an international gathering of Holocaust and genocide scholars that meets biennially in northern Oxfordshire, England.

The Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Keene State College, recognized as a “center of excellence” by the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, has a strong collection of print and media resources, and holds a biennial residential summer institute for educators. It supports the only BA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies in the United States. One of the nation’s oldest Holocaust resource centers, it is a nonsectarian organization dedicated to teaching the lessons of the Holocaust. It fulfills founder Dr. Charles Hildebrandt’s charge, “to remember … and to teach,” through annual community programming and educational outreach activities.
