KSC Orchestra Performs Verdi, Copland, Gershwin, & More

KEENE, N.H., 4/6/10 - The Keene State College Music Department presents the KSC Orchestra, directed by Don Baldini, in the ensemble’s final performance of the season, on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., in the Alumni Recital Hall, Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond.

The program features a wide selection of orchestral favorites, including the overture to Verdi’s Nabucco, “Variations on a Shaker Melody” from Copland’s ballet Appalachian Spring, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Greensleeves, Manuel de Falla’s colorful “Ritual Fire Dance” from El Amor Brujo, and the Finale to Respighi’s The Pines of Rome. In addition, the orchestra will perform suites from America’s finest 20th-century composers: Gershwin’s An American in Paris and Richard Rogers’ glorious South Pacific.

Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for KSC students, senior citizens, and youth ages 17 and under. Tickets will be available at the door, or call the box office at 603-358-2168.
