From Blogs and Dinosaurs to Rocket Science and Solar Cars
KEENE, N.H., 03/31/09 - Registration for Kids on Campus, Keene State College’s Continuing Education and Extended Studies summer program for first through ninth graders, is open.
Combining fun and learning, Kids on Campus classes focus on 41 different topics, including blogs, creative movement, dinosaurs, music, rocket science, shadow puppetry, solar cars, and website construction. The program runs for three weeks: July 6 to 10, July 13 to 17, and July 20 to 24. Morning classes run from 9 a.m. to noon with afternoon classes running from 1 to 4 p.m. Extended morning and afternoon care is available.
Sessions are taught by teachers from local schools, KSC faculty, and other experts.
While sessions are suggested for first through third graders, fourth through sixth graders, and seventh through ninth graders, what is more important is the child’s interest in the topic.
Parents walk students to the classroom and pick them up from that same location. Parents supply snacks and drinks for break time and lunch for students staying a full day. KSC staff meets all-day students after morning class, accompanying them to the lunch area before walking them to afternoon classes. All breaks are supervised.
Per week, the cost per child is $125 for a half day and $200 for a full day. The weekly cost for extended morning and afternoon care is an additional $50.
Prompt registration is advisable. No more than 12 students are accepted in a class.
