Region I OSHA Center Offers 14 Safety Courses in October
KEENE, N.H. 8/25/05 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled 14 safety courses in October. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.
Most classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday at the Region I OSHA Training Institute at the Manchester (N.H.) Airport. Unless otherwise noted, tuition for each course is $725.
Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 510) introduces entry-level personnel to basic construction safety standards and is a prerequisite for attendance in other construction courses. This class meets Oct. 3-7.
Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500) trains the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour construction courses that earn participants OSHA cards. This class meets Oct. 10-14.
Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 502) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This class meets Oct. 17-19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Tuition is $615.
Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the General Industry (OSHA 511) covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. This class meets Oct. 3-7.
Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (OSHA 501) trains the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour general industry courses that earn participants OSHA cards. This course is scheduled Oct. 24-28.
Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 503) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This class meets Oct. 19-21 from 1-4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Tuition is $615.
Excavation, Trenching, and Soil Mechanics (OSHA 3010) introduces practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations. The class meets Oct. 31-Nov. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday.
Recordkeeping Rule (OSHA 7845) assists employers in identifying and fulfilling their responsibilities for posting certain records, maintaining records of illnesses and injuries, and reporting specific cases to OSHA. This course is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $100.
Evacuation and Emergency Planning (OSHA 7105) examines OSHA requirements for emergency action and fire protection plans. This course meets Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $195.
Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control for Health Care Facilities (OSHA 7200) assists healthcare facilities in their development of a Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. The course meets Thursday, Oct. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $195.
Health Hazard Awareness (OSHA 7205) provides an introduction to common health hazards encountered in the workplace including exposure to chemicals, asbestos, silica, and lead. The class is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $195.
Trainer Course in Construction Noise (OSHA 7400) provides participants with materials and guidance for training workers to reduce occupational hearing loss in the construction industry. The class meets Thursday, Oct. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $195.
Introduction to Accident Investigation (OSHA 7505) explains basic accident investigation procedures and describes accident analysis techniques. The course meets Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 17 and 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $390.
A Ten-Hour Outreach Course in OSHA’s Construction Safety and Health Standards (NCSH 310) introduces construction managers and employees to construction hazard recognition and control and OSHA policies, procedures, and standards. The class meets Thursday, Oct. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuition is $250.
