Region I OSHA Center Offers 7 Safety Courses in April

KEENE, N.H. 2/25/05 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center in Manchester, N.H., offers seven safety courses in April. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes meet at the Region I OSHA Training Institute at the Manchester Airport. Payment and registration should be received two weeks in advance of the scheduled date to assure a place in the course.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500) trains the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour construction courses that earn participants OSHA cards. This course is offered April 18-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Tuition is $695.

Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 502) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. The course meets April 11-13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. Tuition is $585.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 503) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. The course meets April 13-15 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Tuition is $585.

Public Warehousing and Storage (OSHA 7005) is designed as a training course for warehouse workers and focuses on hazards and injuries likely to be encountered in warehouse operations. The class meets on Monday, April 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $170.

Health Hazard Awareness (OSHA 7205) provides an introduction to common health hazards encountered in the workplace including exposure to chemicals, asbestos, silica, and lead. The class is scheduled on Friday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $170.

Introduction to OSHA’s Permit-Required Confined-Space Standard (OSHA 7300) is for small employers or designated representatives (line supervisors or managers) in general industry, who are responsible for developing a permit-space program. The class meets on Thursday, April 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $170.

Disaster Site Worker Course (OSHA 7600) focuses on enabling disaster site workers to recognize their responsibility to make decisions that positively affect their own and others health and safety at the site. The class meets Monday and Tuesday, April 4 and 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $340.

A Ten-Hour Outreach Course in OSHA’s Construction Safety and Health Standards is offered online in partnership with ClickSafety.com, Inc. This course (NCSH 311), which must be completed within six months, is ideal for small employers, as a refresher course on the construction standards, or for individuals who need to promptly obtain their 10-hour construction outreach card for employment purposes.
