Region I OSHA Center Offers 5 Safety Courses in December

KEENE, N.H. 10/29/04 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center in Manchester, N.H., offers five safety courses in December. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 510) introduces entry-level personnel to basic construction safety standards and is a prerequisite for attendance in other construction courses. The class meets Dec. 6-10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday at the Region I OSHA Training Institute at the Manchester Airport. Tuition is $695.

Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (OSHA 511) covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. This course is scheduled Dec. 6-10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday at the Region I OSHA Training Institute at the Manchester Airport. Tuition is $695.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 503) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. The course meets Dec. 1-3 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Tuition is $585.

OSHA Guide to Voluntary Compliance in Industrial Hygiene (OSHA 521) covers permissible exposure limits, OSHA health standards, respiratory protection, engineering controls, hazard communication, OSHA sampling procedures and strategy, workplace health program elements, and other industrial hygiene issues. The class is scheduled Dec. 13-17 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday at Keene State College in Keene, N.H. Tuition is $695.

Fall Prevention and Protection for Construction Employees (NCSH 424) is designed to make construction workers and supervisors aware of potential fall hazards in construction and apply recognized control measures to reduce or eliminate those hazards. The class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13. Tuition is $170.
