Fall Registration Underway at Keene State College

KEENE, N.H. 7/24/03 - The Keene State College Continuing Education Office will register students for fall semester courses through Aug. 18 for courses that run the full semester, Aug. 25-Dec. 12. Registration for shorter term and weekend courses is open until the day the class begins. Early registration is encouraged because seats are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Some new and interesting courses available this fall are:

Figure Drawing Studio uses live models and each class begins with short gesture poses and progresses to a long pose. Students working in drawing and painting media are welcome to attend; prior figure drawing experience is recommended. The class meets from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3-Nov. 19. The course may be taken on a noncredit basis or for one college credit.

Personal Financial Planning examines the concepts and practical applications of money management, tax planning, risk management, insurance, investment, retirement, and estate planning. The one-credit course is offered from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, and 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Alexander the Great and the Pamir Knot details Alexander’s sojourn into the Persian Empire and contribution to the development of civilization among the Hunza, Chitral, and Wakhan peoples along with the subsequent spread of Buddhism into China and Central Asia. The class meets from 6:30 to 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug.27-Dec. 10. Midrange Systems Development Certificate Program is a comprehensive iSeries technology curriculum designed and developed in conjunction with the IBM Partners in Education Program. Three computer science courses are offered this fall that can be applied to this certificate:

iSeries Systems Development meets from 11 to 11:50 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Aug. 25-Dec. 12 ;

RPG IV meets from. 6:30 to 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27-Dec. 10;

Advanced Programming in Java meets from 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, Aug. 26-Dec. 11.

To register in person, visit the Continuing Education Office on the first floor of Elliot Hall on Main Street. Parking is available in the visitor’s parking lot on Wyman Way. The office is open 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. Friday.
