New England OSHA Center Offers Safety Courses in August

KEENE, N.H. 7/17/03 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled seven safety courses in August. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Unless otherwise noted, tuition for each course is $650 and classes take place at the Region I OSHA Training Institute located at Manchester Airport meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday.

Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards (OSHA 204A) introduces various types of common machinery and related safety standards for hazards created by points of operation, rotating parts, and flying chips or sparks. This course meets Aug. 4-8.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500) trains the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour construction courses that earn participants OSHA cards. The course meets Aug. 25-29.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry (OSHA 501), intended for private-sector personnel from all types of industries, presents detailed information on how the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act may be implemented in the workplace. The class is scheduled Aug. 11-15.

OSHA’s Revised Recordkeeping Rule (OSHA 845) is designed to assist private- sector personnel who have responsibilities under OSHA’s Revised Recordkeeping Rule 29 CFR 1904. This course is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 22, from 8 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $80.

Mobile Crane Hazards: Train-the-Trainer (NCSH 214) is designed for general contractors, subcontractors, and all employees who work on or around cranes on construction jobsites. This course meets on Friday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Scaffold Users Course (NCSH 406) is designed as a model training program to satisfy the OSHA standard’s training requirements and covers hazards from falls, being struck by falling objects, electrical hazards, and access. This course meets Thursday, Aug. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $160.

Accident Investigation (NCSH 407) emphasizes investigative procedures used in the industrial environment and covers actual accident scenarios. This course meets Monday to Wednesday, Aug. 18-20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $510.
