OSHA Education Center Offers Courses in November

KEENE, N.H. 10/16/02 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled five safety courses in November. The Region I OSHA Training Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State Colleges Office of Continuing Education.

Most classes take place at the Region I OSHA Training Institute located at Manchester Airport, unless otherwise noted.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500) allows the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour construction courses and to issue OSHA cards to participants. This course is scheduled Nov. 18-22 and meets Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $650.

Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 502) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This course is offered Nov. 4-6 and meets 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, and from 8:30 to noon Wednesday. Tuition is $500.

Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers (OSHA 503) must be completed within four years of the date of trainer authorization; it is required by OSHA to maintain outreach instructor status. This course is scheduled Nov. 6-8 and meets Wednesday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $500.

Steel Erection Subpart R (NCSH 200) covers the OSHA requirements of the new Steel Erection Standard. Students have the unique opportunity of practical experience on a steel training tower located at the New Hampshire Community Technical College in Nashua, where the course takes place Nov. 4-8. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Tuition is $650.

Developing Effective Safety Programs in Construction (NCSH 213) covers key elements and applications of effective safety programs, including those recommended by OSHA and the American Society of Safety Engineers. The course meets Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuition is $160.
