Midnight Madness Hits Keene State

KEENE, N.H. 10/15/02 - Keene State holds its sixth annual Midnight Madness celebration this Friday night.

Doors will open at 11 p.m., with the first 1,200 fans receiving free T-shirts.

Once again, the people in the community have been so supportive both on campus and in the local area in terms of prizes and giveaways, said Rob Colbert, KSCs fourth-year basketball coach, it will be really exciting.

In what promises to be among the highlights on Friday night, one fan will have the chance to sink a half-court shot for $10,000.

Among the other prizes to be given away are a TV/DVD player, a spring break vacation, $1,500 in bookstore gift certificates, and a $2,500 semester package that includes a meal plan, books, and $1,000 towards housing. This year weve tried to guarantee every student has the chance to win something, Colbert said.

In addition to the prizes and giveaways, the 2002-03 mens and womens basketball teams will make their first appearance on the Spaulding Gym court. Players will stage a three-point contest and a dunk contest. The KSC cheerleaders and dance team will make appearances, Supercuts will be giving out free haircuts, and students will have the chance to participate in KSCs own version of Fear Factor.

Our players really look forward to this night; its one of the main events on campus that brings a huge section of the student body together, Colbert said. I cant think of any other event this time of year that can do that.
