Region I OSHA Education Center Offers 8 Courses In June

KEENE, N.H. 5/12/04 - The Region I (New England) OSHA Training Institute Education Center, in Manchester, N.H., has scheduled eight safety courses in June. The Institute is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Keene State College’s Office of Continuing Education.

Most classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Unless otherwise noted, tuition for each course is $680 and classes take place at the Region I OSHA Training Institute at the Manchester Airport.

Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (OSHA 500) trains the student to conduct 10- and 30-hour construction courses that earn participants OSHA cards. This course is scheduled June 7-11.

OSHA Guide to Voluntary Compliance in the Industrial Hygiene Area (OSHA 521) features industrial hygiene health standards and safety and health procedures for private sector personnel. The course meets June 21-25 at Keene State College.

Respiratory Protection (OSHA 2225) covers the requirements for the establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of a respirator program. This course is scheduled June 7-10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Keene State College.

Electrical Standards (OSHA 3095) surveys OSHA’s electrical standards and the associated hazards inherent in electrical installations and equipment. This course is scheduled June 14-18.

Collateral Duty Course for Other Federal Agencies (OSHA 6000) enables participants to recognize basic safety and health hazards in their workplaces and assist inspections and abatement efforts. The class meets June 7-10.

Introduction to Machinery and Machine-Safeguarding (OSHA 7100) explains when and how to properly safeguard machinery to reduce or eliminate the potential for accidents and injuries. The course is scheduled from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22. Tuition is $160.

Creating an Effective Safety Committee (NCSH 433) defines the purpose and goals of a safety committee, its duties and responsibilities, employee involvement, hazard identification, and documentation. The course meets from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 17. Tuition is $160.

Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care, Mental Health, and Social Services Professionals (NCSH 450) explains strategies using environmental methods or engineering controls, organization and administrative methods, and behavioral or interpersonal methods to prevent workplace violence in the health care, mental health, and social services fields. The course meets from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22. Tuition is $160.
