Keene State College, says Lisa Prospert, “values both the education and work experience of the educator.” And as an educator, she adds, “the smaller class sizes allow me to get to know the students better and have a more connected interaction with each of them.”

This type of connection provides her with her most rewarding classroom experiences and reaffirming moments. She says those moments happen every time she takes a complex science or medical concept and presents it in a way that clicks. She uses analogies and real-life examples to help her students make connections to the content they might not have made otherwise.

Her family’s lifestyle includes whole foods, local foods, and integrated/complementary medicine. In her professional life as an educator, she has two goals: to create connections that lead to an increased interest and enthusiasm for nutrition science, and to create an understanding among students that their future is rife with possibilities. “Opportunities to utilize all aspects of their nutrition education are endless,” she says, “and limited only by their own imaginations, interest, and work ethic.”
