Professional Activities

Dr. Patricia Pedroza González, Women’s and Gender Studies/American Studies, conducted a training workshop on Critical Pedagogies from a Gender Perspective at the Center for Teaching and Research of Mathematics (CIEM) on June 5-14. This workshop was attended by 20 teachers of elementary, middle, and high school. This activity culminated her spring 2017 sabbatical term; however, it opened diverse opportunities to continue working in collaboration with CIEM for future research on feminist approaches and pedagogical issues such as inclusion and educational equity.

Christopher Swist, Music, has had his “Cities at Twilight” published by Bachovich Music Publications. This marks his 15th publication with 4 different publishers. Bachovich is a new publisher for him, the others being Studio 4 Music, Keyboard Percussion Publications, and Edition Svitzer.

Marie Duggan, Economics, spoke on manufacturing at the American Precision Museum in Windsor, VT, June 11. In July, Dr. Duggan traveled to Mexico City to meet with Mexican historians Carmen Yuste and Dení Trejo to organize a conference in Spring 2018 on Pacific Rim Trade between Asia, Mexico, Peru and California in the 18th century.
