Colleague Recognition

Bud Winsor passes on the Golden Owl Award to Matt Bacon, interim recycling coordinator. From Bud:

Matt has stepped into the position of recycling coordinator with a spirit of cooperation and willingness to do whatever it takes to keep the recycling effort vibrant at Keene State. His good nature and positive attitude have kept his crew on track, turning a dauntless task into a seamless, efficient operation. He is to be commended for a smooth transition of the program during a particularly busy time. Kudos to Matt and his student staff for their dedicated efforts every single day.

“Oscar” the Golden Owl is being presented to Val Hodge in Human Resources in recognition of all her efforts around the Keene State College/Keene Community Kitchen Thanksgiving Basket donations. For years Val has rallied the campus community around this important community effort. She has communicated, kept track of offices contributing and the number of baskets being contributed, arranged for baskets to be picked up, and checked and rechecked to be sure that everything requested to be in the baskets is in fact included. Each year Val can happily report that we have met or exceeded our donations from the previous year. It can be a challenge to keep us all focused on the necessary deadline yet Val is able to do so with timely and upbeat reminders.

Elise Morrissette and I have passed the Golden Owl on to Jim Carley, associate director of Residential Life and Housing Services. Jim has worked countless hours to get the new Living and Learning Commons up and running. From the start of this massive project until move-in day - Jim has worked tirelessly to ensure that it has all been done right. A project of this magnitude requires extensive attention to detail and Jim is just the person for the job! Thank you Jim for all your hard work and dedication.
