Professional Activities

Dr. Patricia Pedroza González, Women’s and Gender Studies and American Studies, attended the Exploring Collaborative Contestations and Diversifying Hypatia-Philosophy Conference May 28- June 3, 2015, at the Villanova University-Liberal Arts and Sciences at Philadelphia, PA. She presented her paper, La Morena y el Toro/Torito: A Mestiza Challenge to Western Theories of Embodiment. This conference discussed, examined and addressed the underrepresentation of women and other marginalized groups in philosophy. Participants were invited to focus on hurdles and best practices associated with the inclusion of underrepresented groups within this discipline.

Jose Manuel Lezcano (Professor of Music) recently completed a residency as Visiting Professor at the Universidad Rovira y Virgili in Tarragona, Catalunya (Spain). While there he collaborated with URV colleague Dr. Rosa Tamarit in recitals of his own and Spanish songs in Tarragona, Mollerusa, and Tortosa, and played a lecture-recital at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona. He also recently played a solo guitar recital for the School of Music at the University of Florida, concerts in Key West and Sarasota, and premiered his composition Fantasia Latina Suite for Guitar and Harp at the Centro del Mundo Festival in Quito, Ecuador on a duo concert with Franziska Huhn, Professor of Harp at Longy and New England Conservatory.
