Professional Activities

Amanda Guthorn, Campus Safety, will receive her Doctor of Arts degree in leadership from Franklin Pierce University May 16. Her dissertation was entitled “Deconstructing the Brass Ceiling: A Snapshot of Women in New Hampshire Law Enforcement.”

Dr. Beverly J. Ferrucci, Professor of Mathematics, conducted a workshop titled, “Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practices: Promoting Geometric Thinking With Manipulatives” at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics’ Annual Conference and Exposition in Boston, MA. The interactive workshop presented ideas and materials for developing elementary school students’ geometric thinking and illustrated various resources to help teachers integrate the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practices within their classrooms.

Chitra Akkoor, Communication, has received a $6,150 grant from the Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation for “Cultural Comparisons of Brazil and India as BRICS.” This award provides funds to support travel to Brazil to examine, through cultural immersion, the similarities between two emerging economies (Brazil and India).
