Patrick Dolenc, Professor of Economics, has been selected to be the Lead Faculty for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Blended Learning Faculty team that will build an Economic Inequality course for all AASCU schools to use. Pat has been instrumental in bringing a dialogue of civic engagement to campus through his work with the KSC-ADP steering committee and as co-chair of KSC’s 2013 Biennial Symposium on Finding Your Place in the Evolving Commons. He is currently a member of the steering committee for the formation of ADP’s national Economic Inequality Initiative along with colleagues at KSC and at Mt. Wachusett Community College linking AASCU four year and two year institutions.

Cathy Turrentine, Director of Institutional Research, and Kim Schmidl-Gagne, Program Manager for Diversity & Multiculturalism Initiatives/NEASC and KSC’s American Democracy Project campus coordinator presented at the 2015 AASCU Academic Affairs Winter Meeting: Student Success and the Stewardship of Place in New Orleans, Feb. 5-7. Their session focused on KSC’s use and results of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The session introduced NSSE’s civic engagement module, involved participants in considering aggregate findings and campus-level results and determined what the results suggested for civic engagement practices and quality in higher education. Both Cathy and Kim are members of KSC American Democracy Project’s Steering Committee.
