Professional Activities

Jose Lezcano (Music) recently performed three “Humanities to Go” presentations for the New Hampshire Humanities Council. He delivered his lecture/recital, “The Guitar in Latin America: Continuities, Changes, and Bicultural Strumming” for inmates of the New Hampshire Correctional Institution in Berlin (April 30) and for the Bixby Library in Francestown (May 28), and his lecture “The Guitar and the Devil: Music, Magic, and Ritual among Ecuadorean Indians” at the Elkin Public Library in Canterbury (May 13).

Denise Burchsted, Environmental Studies, has received a $23,450 grant from the University of New Hampshire/U.S. Geological Survey. Her project includes joint student research between Keene State and Antioch University of New England, studying the role of natural dams in biogeochemical state and, by extension, in the water quality of New England’s rivers.
