Major Gifts

From Ken Goebel, Development:

We have just over 4 weeks left in the current fiscal year and I’ll likely be able to send one more gift announcement after this one to highlight year-end gifts of major significance. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Please take note of the following major gifts that will impact our students in the very near future!

  • In support of the Redfern 2014-15 Season we have a $4,000 sponsorship from Liberty Mutual and a $2,500 sponsorship from Cambridge Trust. Well done Shannon!
  • The Special Collection Fund in Mason Library has received an estate gift from David Proper, a long-time friend of the college and local historian. The amount of the gift is $69,000 and will provide a real boost to the Library for its special collections work.
  • The William T Morris Foundation has continued is extremely generous support of the college again this year. We received $238,000 to support the Morris-August Honors Program and Travel Scholarships. This gift is our largest current use gift in support of scholarships and thanks goes out to Sean Gillery, Maryann Lindberg, and Bob Kostick for their good work with this foundation. We have also received $5,000 from WTM to support ongoing programs in the Cohen Center.
  • Bequests often provide the largest gifts from individuals to the college. This is the case of our latest estate gift of $61,113 from Melvin S Clark ’77 of Kansas City MO. This gift is unrestricted and its use will be determined by the Gift Acceptance Committee.
  • Finally, a quick report of our Close to Home Campaign shows that KSC Faculty and Staff have given $57,136 from 194 donors this year. Both of these figures represent increases from last year! We can continue to count gifts from our Faculty and Staff until June 30 and you’re welcome to support your favorite campus projects. Thanks so much!
