Major Gifts

From Ken Goebel:

The following gifts are indicative of how we’ll be able to do even more with our students in the coming years!

• $25,000 from Kim and Crystal Cocklin in support of our undergraduate and faculty research. I worked with the Cocklins and a certain science faculty member on this gift.
• $445,000 from Bart Swett, PhD ’56 as a bequest intention to fund a scholarship in the visual and performing arts. Dr. Huot and I helped Dr. Swett complete his thoughts on his bequest and make this commitment.
• $100,000 from Dr. Howard Smith ’42 to fund a scholarship for an undergraduate or graduate student at KSC. Dr. Huot and Sean Gillery helped Dr Smith make this commitment.
• $5,000 from the Friends of the Thorne to jump start the fundraising initiative for the Thorne-Sagendorph 50th Anniversary in 2015. This was a final installment of a $13,000 pledge from the Friends for the 50th Celebration! Andy Harris, Maryann Lindberg, and Maureen Ahearn were all helpful in the relationship with the Friends.
• $40,000 bequest intention from a devoted staff member and spouse to fund two new scholarship funds for first generation students. It’s fun to see a plan come together!
