A Fond Farewell to Frank Wojcik

From the Academic Affairs Council:

Please join the Academic Affairs Council on Tuesday, May 6 at 3-4 p.m. in the Marion Wood Reading Room in the Mason Library as we gather to thank and bid a fond farewell to Interim Dean Frank Wojcik, the leader we credit with the library’s invigorating transformation, as he leaves us to take up his new post as Associate Dean, Academic Engagement, at the University of Rochester River Campus Libraries on June 1.

Frank Wojcik began his time at the Mason Library in July 2013 with a bang. Although the word “interim” was part of his title, he immediately established himself as a strong leader by participating on multiple campus committees and initiatives centered around student success and academic technology. He led Mason Library’s initiative to start KSCommons, an institutional repository. With KSCommons, we have a home and a showcase for all our fabulous faculty and student research, along with a digital archive for some of our special collections, including the Orang Asli Collection.

In addition to being a strong leader, and visionary for the role of 21st century libraries, Frank is a person that we liked having around. He is a great storyteller, who likes to laugh as much as he likes to lead. Relationships are top priority for Frank, and during his time here, he’s always been up for a quick conversation about oystering or making guitars before he heads off to the the Student Success Task Force meeting. Although we are very happy for Frank, and wish him lots of luck and happiness in his new position, we will definitely miss him!
