Dr. Neal Pruchansky, Management, will be presenting a pre-conference workshop on “Enhancing Your SBI Program: How to Take Your SBI to the Next Level” at the national 2014 Small Business Institute Conference in February.

Murray Mast and Christopher Swist, Music, were performers on Cantaloupe Music’s premier recording of Inuksuit by John Luther Adams. This recording has made NPR Classical’s 10 Favorite Albums of 2013, The New York Times Favorite Classical Recordings of 2013, The Boston Globe Best Albums of 2013, and The New Yorker Notable Classical Recordings of 2013. This piece is scored for a battery of percussion instruments dispersed throughout a large space. Each performance of the work varies depending on location and number of instruments; this version was recorded in the woods in Guilford, Vermont. Inuksuit was staged on Appian Way by the KSC Percussion Ensemble back in 2011 and will be performed again this year around Brickyard Pond on May 2.

Dr. Gina Velasco was selected as a Consortium of Public Liberal Arts Colleges Faculty Research Fellow for spring 2014. She published her essay, “Performing the Filipina ‘Mail Order Bride’: Queer Neoliberalism, Affective Labor, and Homonationalism,” in the journal, Women and Performance: A Journal of Feminist Theory. Dr. Velasco also published a review of Mimi Nguyen’s The Gift of Freedom: War, Debt, and Other Refugee Passages in the International Feminist Journal of Politics.
