LeVine Mellion Parent Award Presented to Copithornes and Purintons

The LeVine Mellion Parent Award was established in 1983 by the four children of Dr. Gilbert LeVine Mellion and Ruth Berman Mellion. Bruce, Paul, Joan, and Dan created the award and fund to recognize and thank their parents for their unyielding encouragement and support and their insistence on the importance of education. Bruce, Paul, and Joan are KSC alumni, all graduating from KSC in the last 60’s and early to mid 70’s. Dan attended Ferris State University in Michigan.

Since its inception, this award has recognized parents of KSC students who have gone above and beyond the usual in the support of their children attending college. Many of those recognized have been single parents, many have sacrificed significantly, but all have felt that KSC was the right place for their children at that time and that the values of our college met the needs of their students.

This year, two families are being recognized as nominated by their students: James and Becky Copithorne (daughter Kendra, from Wolfboro, NH), and Anthony and Debbie Purinton (daughter Kayla, from Brunswick, Maine).

The Copithornes and Purintons received their awards over Parent Family Weekend.
