Major Gifts

From Ken Goebel, director of Development:

The College has recently received a gift of $3,000 from Stephanie ’62 and Joseph Baute. This gift will go to the Class of ‘62 Scholarship Fund which supports KSC students who may become education majors. Stephanie and Joe have been long-time generous supporters of KSC and have previously funded an endowed scholarship in their name, to which they recently also made a gift of $6,000.

For over 20 years, since the opening of the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery, we have had the pleasure of admiring “Oranto,” the cor-ten steel sculpture by Jules Olitski. Now, through the generous offer of his daughter, Lauren Olitski Poster, campus is the proud owner of this fine work as a permanent piece of the Thorne-Sagendorph collection. Thanks to Maureen Ahern for her work in stewarding the Olitski family through the years. Enjoy!

Thanks to Jay Kahn, Maryann Lindberg, Peggy Walsh, Hank Knight, and especially Sean Gillery for their good work with the William T. Morris Foundation throughout the year. Their strong engagement and meaningful stewardship of the August family and the Foundation Trustees have resulted in new gifts totaling $243,000 to support scholarship and program funding for the coming academic year. This represents the largest current-use gift to the institution this year and brings the total from the W T Morris Foundation to over $1 million over the last five years. $5,000 of this total is directed to the Cohen Center for programmatic support, and $238,000 is directed to financial aid, which KSC chooses to apply towards students in its Honors Program. This relationship started when the August family visited Keene State and participated in a tour with Ryan Murphy from Exeter, NH – a KSC superstar student/tour guide!
