Jasinski receives 2012 Vermont Football Official of the Year Award

At the 12th annual State of Vermont Chapter of the National football Foundation and College Hall of Fame ceremony at Castleton State College on April 28, 2013, Dr. Jerry Jasinski received the 2012 Vermont Football Official of the Year award as selected by his peers. Dr. Jasinski, a long time Professor of Chemistry at Keene State College, has been officiating football at the high school level for 42 years. He was selected as a WMUR-TV “Hometown Hero” in 2008 when he was honored as a football official for the 50th annual NH-VT Shrine Football game held at Dartmouth College, which also represented his participation 50 years after playing in the game as a high school senior from Towle High School (Newport, NH). Throughout his career he has also served as a high school (35 years) and collegiate (10 years) basketball official and as a Track & Field official (35 years) at both the high school and collegiate levels. For 18 years he also served as Assistant Track & Field Coach at Keene State and had the privilege of coaching Keene State’s first national champion, Paul Trochi, who won the Division III national championship in the Decathlon in 1979. During his long career at Keene State, Dr. Jasinski also found time to establish and direct the Vermont State Decathlon and Heptathlon Championships for 35 years. Now in its 38th year, it is known as the Jerry P. Jasinski Vermont State Decathlon & Heptathlon Championships.
