Major Gifts

From Ken Goebel, Development:

It’s my pleasure to share information about two recent gifts to the College – both for our top fundraising priorities of this year.

First, $10,200 was received from the estate of Mary Hamilton ‘44 to be added to the Mary C E Hamilton ’44 and Erik Harry Hamilton Scholarship Endowment. This fund was established in 2000 by Mary to memorialize her brother Erik to support students enrolled in teacher education. Clearly, the principal will now support a higher level of financial aid as it is awarded.

KSC received $5,000 from the Main Street America Group (locally known as National Grange Mutual Insurance) towards the TDS Center building project. They will have their name on our large donor board in the Hub and they have also named the Safety Lab Prep Room that sits between classrooms 209 and 211 in the TDS Center.

Also, Engelberth Construction Inc. has made the final installment payment on their leadership pledge to the Alumni Center Campaign. This gift of $16,500 to the Alumni Program Fund completes their $50K pledge and, more importantly, provides much needed private funding to support the program work of our Alumni and Parent Relations office. Pierre Leblanc ’78 is president of Engelberth Construction and has been a very good friend of the College as contractor for many campus projects. Most recently Engelberth was the general contractor for the construction of the TDS Center and their work continues now with the installation of the photovoltaic panels on the TDS roof. Engelberth was also a leadership donor to that project.

And the CNA Foundation of CNA Insurance has provided a $2,500 financial aid award for our safety students to be used this spring. This is a second gift from CNA to be counted towards our TDS Center Campaign – scholarship segment. CNA attended our Job Fair last week in search of new Safety Studies grads. They are quite pleased with our alumni and now have 7 KSC alumni working for the Connecticut-based insurer. Sean Gillery has been stewarding this relationship along with Larry McDonald and our Safety Studies faculty.
