Who Are You and What Do You Do?

• Who are you? Kim Harkness ‘85
• What do you do? Director, Human Resources
• What do you really do? I try to support the employees of Keene State College as they provide service to each other and engage in educating our students. This includes appointments, benefits, searches, and employee relations.
• What else do you do? My outside time is pretty much about taking care of my family. My four children (three are teenagers) are very active in sports and that takes a lot of our time managing their schedules. But I am also an avid reader and New England sports fan.
• How long have you been here? I started in 1985 after graduating and was hired in full time in 1986.
• What’s your favorite Keene State memory? I loved my graduation from Keene State, clapping through the faculty as they marched in and then seeing them clap the graduates out when the ceremony was over. Being able to catch the eye of faculty who had taught me and get to say “thank you” during that walk was a great moment and why I still love our Keene State graduation each year!
• If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why? Hmmmm. I guess I’d want a very practical power-super speed to help me get through the day and get caught up someday.

I do what I feel is right for me.
