From GEO:

This February, the Global Education Office held its annual Study Away Photo Contest, featuring photos taken by KSC students who participated in a national or international study away program during 2012. With almost 40 students submitting entries, the exhibit featured more than 100 photos, which were on display for a week at the Young Student Center.

Students had the option to enter their photos based on two categories: General Study Away and Global Engagement. During the course of the week, students, faculty, staff and other visitors to the Student Center cast votes for their favorite photo in each category. First place winners and runners-up in each category received $60 and $40 gift cards to the KSC Bookstore, respectively.

The winners were:

Kim L`heureux ’14 – First Place General Category

Artist statement: This photo captured one of many artists, musicians, and dancers that display their talents every day on the famous Charles Bridge. Before arriving in Prague, my Dad tried to express to me the excitement of the bridge and its ability to make you lose track of time, which proved to be a huge understatement as I could have spent an entire day enjoying everything it had to offer. A significant aspect of being globally engaged is accepting and appreciating ways of life that are different from our own. While many of the artists used their skills to earn a living, the man captured in this photo gave me the feeling that music is simply a passion he wishes to share with the world.
